We never published pictures from the ward handcart trek so here are a few. The trek was August 4, 5 & 6.
Timp Hike
On Friday, August 26th, Suzanne, Mark, Mark's friend Lindsey and I hiked Mt. Timpanogos. We got to the Timpooneke trail head at 8AM and were picked up by Grandpa Clayson at 8PM at the Aspen Grove trail head. In between we enjoyed the wild flowers, crossed many snow fields, watched mountain goats, lost count of the number of waterfalls and enjoyed the view from the summit.
Special Olympics
Yesterday Suzanne, Lindsey, and I went to help with the Special Olympics. It was a really cool experience. The only sad thing was that both of the Brigham City teams that played on my court ended up losing. It was a good experience and we even got to give out the medals to the teams that played on our court.

The Trek is done!!
Yes this past weekend the Pioneer Trek that Dad and many others worked on for so many months finished out on Saturday afternoon. There were those that choose to have a great experience and those that choose to complain. But over all is was a success. Some that came weren't very excited but they jumped in and really had a great experience. They didn't have any real troubles with heat stroke or stitches or anything big. Yea! No one got hurt. They watched the kids well and kept them drinking and that was good.
Dad has come home with a Brigham Young style beard. Aunt Vicky gave him a compliment on it Sunday but he has taken some ribbing from others. I think he looks fine. So far no complaints from ME!!
I was proud of Suzanne's great attitude on the trek. She went to make it meaningful and it was. She wanted to work hard and get all from the experience she could. So way to go Suz!!
When they walked in the door Mark was here and instantly commented on how dirty and smelly they were. And yes I would have to agree with Mark's evaluation. They were about as dirty as you could get.
We weren't at our ward because we were able to go to Marilee's ward for Lindsay's blessing. But they said our meeting went 20 minutes over with testimonies. So I think if that many had their hearts touched it must be a success.

Today in accounting Bro. Ames was talking about winning $100,000,000 in a lottery. Here is what he said: "You have a better chance of flushing your foot down the toilet than winning." It was really funny.

The Trek begins!!!
Well the Trek that we have all been talking about all summer is offically off and going. It is 9:57am on Thursday and I am home. I have left Dad and Suzanne at the Scout House to begin the weekends activities.
They played some games and then were put into their families. Suzanne joined the Sharp's family. I don't know their real pioneer names but you know who the Sharp's. The ward has 4 families. I think Heather Krause is Suzanne's sister pioneer style.
Only a couple of the young pioneers came in regular clothes. Most of them came with their Pioneer dress on. The boys are in a more simple costume but the girls are all in pinafore's, skirts, bonnets and pantaloons. I don't think that the true pioneers had such color in their clothing but the look is similar. It should be fun.
Sis. Patti and Bro Joe Ortiz are going along as the Cook's. Tiffany Hanson and Kylie are going on as cook's helpers. So even the cook has some children.
This morning we have a cool breeze and the temperatures are very nice. I hope it stays nice for them up in Morgan. May our pioneers have a wonderful week.
