Thanks to my dearest mother-in-law Mark has developed this great love for the holidays, I mean all holidays big and small. For example...St.Patricks day for me has only ever been a day that I need to wear green so I didn't get pinched at school, but I woke up this St.Pattys day to a whole new experience. My sweet husband got up early to begin his preparations for the day, which began with Matthew and I awaking to a breakfast of green. Green pancakes, green applesauce, green milk and all of our dishes and silverware were green also. While we ate, our little leprechaun dad was off preparing a little scavenger hunt for Matthew. Before we began Mark made us put on our 4 leaf clover attire. Which consisted of shamrock bandannas and oversized clover glasses. We looked ridiculous but it was very exciting to make a holiday which is usually not so exciting in my book, fun. Matthew actually really quite enjoyed running from room to room to find clues which led us to where our next destination would be. Its a wild guess, but I think the little green gummy frogs at each clue was quite the motivation for our almost 2 year old sugar lover to keep on going. Our last clue led us to "the trunk of moms car" and in it we found the pot of gold! No really, it was a pot of gold. Mark bought a little dutch oven kettle pot, that he filled with 1 dollar gold coins and lots of green candies. We were just thrilled! and I cant forget to mention the family sized box of Lucky charms. Yum Yum. For lunch we were told to eat our green tortellini, green grapes, green gatorade and green snowballs. Oh I love my husband. I think this will actually be a really fun tradition to do for years to come. I dont think Marks mom realized that the little baggy of green candies that she left on her kids beds would mean so much to her son. But it did indeed and Mark has taken it to a whole new level. I truly believe though that these are the things, the memories that will mean so much to our children in the end. Happy St. Patricks Day!
